Check out these important August "Back to School" dates -

This fall, we will hold three special nights to help everyone have a positive start to the upcoming school year. 

  • Meet-the-Teacher Night is August 12th, 2014: This will be on Tuesday, August 12th from 4:30-6:30 pm. This is an open house for grades PK-5 where you and your child can drop in at your convenience to meet his/her classroom teacher. During this time you can also drop off school supplies and communicate your transportation plans for before and after school. Meet-the-Teacher Night is the only scheduled time for you and your child to stop and meet with your teacher prior to the start of the school year.
  • Kindergarten Welcome-to-School Night is August 13th, 2014: This is a parent-only night on Wednesday, August 13th from 6:30-7:00 pm. Kindergarten teachers will meet with all of their parents and review curriculum and expectations for the school year.
  • First Day of School for Students: The first day of school is scheduled for Thursday, August 14th, 2014. 
  • 1st – 5th Grades Back-to-School Night is August 19th, 2014: This is an evening for parents only. Teachers will meet with all of their parents and review curriculum and expectations for the school year. The schedule is as follows: Grades 1-2 parents will meet with their teachers from 7:00-7:30; Grade 3 parents will meet with their teachers from 6:00-6:30; Grades 4- 5 parents will meet with their teachers from 8:00-8:30. Special Areas will meet from 6:45-7:15.

Welcome to Northeast Elementary
Welcome to Northeast Elementary, a school filled with students excited to learn, a caring and highly engaged staff, and families who are passionate about their child’s education.  My name is Tara Owen and I am Northeast’s principal.  Thank you for taking time to learn about our community of learners through our website.  When looking through the upcoming dates, staff information, and additional unique Northeast news; you will recognize Ankeny Community Schools and Northeast as an exceptional district and school where your child will receive an educational experience encouraging growth socially and academically.  The 2014-2015 will be an exciting year and we look forward to your child and family being a part of the Northeast community!

Community forums about Physical Plant and Equipment Levy renewal to be held August 26 and 28 -
Looking for more information about the PPEL renewal vote or have questions you would like to ask?  Ankeny Schools will hold public forums in the Prairie Ridge Middle School cafeteria on August 26 at 5:00 PM and August 28 at 6:00 PM.  If you can't make one of those dates, a schedule of speaking dates to Parent-Teacher Organizations can be found here.

Register now for Junior Jaguar Cheer Clinic for grades K-5:

The ACHS Cheerleading Team will sponsor a Cheer Clinic on September 17 at 5:00 p.m. in the Northview Middle School gym for grades K-5.  The participants will perform prior to the Ankeny Centennial varsity football game on Friday, September 19.  If you have any questions please contact the ACHS Activities Office at 965-9611 or Cheerleading Coach Alyssa Howlett at alyssa.howlett@ankenyschools.org.  Registrations are due September 12.



Register now for Jaguar Dance Clinic for ages 4-12:

The ACHS Dance Team will sponsor a Fall Dance Clinic on September 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the Prairie Ridge Middle School lunchroom for students ages 4-12.  The dancers attending the clinic, will perform prior to the Ankeny Centennial varsity football game on Friday, September 5.  If you have any questions please contact the ACHS Activities Office at 965-9611 or Dance Team Coach Madison Fontana at madison.fontana@ankenyschools.org.  Registrations are due August 31.

"An Instrument in Every Hand" seeks donations:

Do you have a band instrument collecting dust that could bring an Ankeny student the joy and benefit of music?  "An Instrument In Every Hand" is accepting donations of band instruments at any Ankeny school any time during school hours.  The program was started last year by AHS student Quinn Wilson, and has helped more than 50 students participate in the band program.  If you have any questions contact Vicky Anderson, vicky.anderson@ankenyschools.org.
